Our Favourite Beaches

Five Beaches We Keep
Coming Back To

We've swum at every beach within 30 kilometres. These are the ones we actually go to — no tourist traps, just honest picks.

Amazing Vibe

Duboka Draga

Everything about this place just works — the way the cliffs frame the cove, the colour of the water in the afternoon light. Bring a cooler and snacks and plan to stay the whole day.

Local's Favourite

Rajska Plaža

The name means "Paradise Beach" and the locals aren't exaggerating. Shallow entry, perfect for kids, and the water stays warm well into September. The one the neighbours go to.

Most Popular Nearby

Kraljičina Plaža

The "Queen's Beach" — and she earned the name. The biggest and most popular beach in the area, with fine gravel and gentle entry into turquoise water. A full family beach day, sorted.

For the Refreshment Fans

Plaža Puntica

For those who like their sea on the bracing side. The water here is refreshingly cold — spring currents keep it cooler than the rest of the coast. Perfect on a scorching August afternoon.

Sightseeing

Don't Miss These

History buffs, nature lovers, adrenaline junkies — there are day trips from the villa for everyone.

Old Ljubač fortress ruins

Castrum Liube — Old Ljubač

Right on our doorstep and most visitors don't even know it exists. This 13th-century medieval fortress sits on a hill overlooking the channel between the mainland and Pag. The walls still stand, the views are staggering, and you'll probably have it all to yourself. 10-minute walk — go at sunset.

Walking distance
Pag Bridge

Pag Bridge

On clear days you can see it from the villa — the bridge connecting the mainland to Pag island. Cross it and enter a completely different world: moonscapes, salt fields, wild sheep, and some of Croatia's best cheese. Pag town is charming, and Zrće on the far end is Croatia's party capital.

10 km — visible from the villa
Zadar Old Town

Zadar Old Town

Three thousand years of history on one walkable peninsula. Roman ruins next to medieval churches, plus the Sea Organ — an instrument played by waves — and the Greeting to the Sun. Hitchcock called Zadar's sunset the most beautiful in the world, and he wasn't wrong.

15 km — 20 min drive
Paklenica National Park

Paklenica National Park

The closest national park and absolutely worth a half-day. Two dramatic canyons — Velika and Mala Paklenica — cut through the Velebit mountains. Trails range from easy forest walks to serious climbing. With kids, I recommend the main canyon trail — shaded, beautiful, and there's a mountain hut with cold drinks at the end.

40 km — 40 min drive
Kornati Islands

Kornati Islands

An archipelago of 89 islands, most of them completely uninhabited. The water between them is the deepest blue you've ever seen. Book a day trip from Zadar — boat through the islands, swim in hidden bays, and eat freshly caught fish lunch on one of the tiny islands.

Day trip from Zadar
Plitvice Lakes

Plitvice Lakes

You've probably seen the photos — 16 terraced lakes connected by waterfalls, surrounded by ancient forest. UNESCO World Heritage and one of the most stunning natural sites in Europe. About 90 minutes from the villa — plan a full day. Leave early.

130 km — full day trip
Krka Waterfalls

Krka Waterfalls

Krka is Plitvice's slightly more accessible sibling. The main attraction is Skradinski Buk — a massive cascade waterfall you walk around on wooden boardwalks. The mist on your face on a hot day is indescribable. The town of Skradin at the park entrance is lovely for lunch.

80 km — 1 hr drive
Kayaking on Zrmanja River

Zrmanja River

This is where you go when you want adrenaline. The Zrmanja carves a deep canyon through karst landscape and the water is emerald green, impossibly clear, and perfect for kayaking or rafting. Several operators run half-day tours with full equipment. Fun for the whole family.

45 km — 45 min drive
